Hi, welcome to my website! My name is Julia & I’m a recent graduate from Loyola University Chicago. During my time at Loyola, I majored in Communication Studies & double minored in Philosophy & Law & Politics.
Since the age of five, I’ve been traveling across the United States & to various countries. As a child of Polish immigrants, I grew up making the long journey to Poland every few years to see my family. My mother always took these trips as an opportunity to introduce the world to me by traveling to different countries. At the time, I was unable to fully appreciate the value of these adventures & often felt as if putting on my hiking boots or entering a museum was a chore rather than a privilege. Yet this changed dramatically on a particular trip to Scotland during a hike up Ben Nevis, the tallest mountain in the United Kingdom. About halfway to the summit & at the point when the hike started to get difficult, we reached a valley with a sparkling, bright blue lake. I vividly recall taking in the view of the lake with the vast mountain landscape & the feeling of the crisp air in my lungs. It was at this moment that I truly recognized the beauty of our planet.
I greatly attribute my love for nature to these early travels & continue to be inspired by the Earth’s wonders. I am now pursuing a career that will allow me to protect & advocate for the various issues threatening the planet as a result of climate change. I am particularly interested in the role of law, policy-making, & ethics in relation to the climate crisis. My time at Loyola has allowed me to explore each of these interests & discover how they intersect. At the moment, I am fascinated by the topic of legal personhood & I intend to conduct further research in the near future.
Through my internships and work experience, I have learned to write in different styles & developed versatility in my writing abilities. Some of my work includes newsletters, infographics, social media posts, & digital advertisements. You can view some of my work here. Outside of school & professional work experience, I enjoy getting involved in the community & meeting new people. As an ambassador for the Alliance for the Great Lakes, I regularly participate in local events & advocate for the needs of the Great Lakes. I am also an avid reader & of course love to travel to new places. Yet above all, I’m the happiest when I’m staying active outdoors, whether that be hiking, kayaking, snowboarding, or horseback riding.
